This is an automatically created tracking bug! It was created to ensure that one or more security vulnerabilities are fixed in affected versions of fedora-all. For comments that are specific to the vulnerability please use bugs filed against the "Security Response" product referenced in the "Blocks" field. For more information see: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Security/TrackingBugs When submitting as an update, use the fedpkg template provided in the next comment(s). This will include the bug IDs of this tracking bug as well as the relevant top-level CVE bugs. Please also mention the CVE IDs being fixed in the RPM changelog and the fedpkg commit message. NOTE: this issue affects multiple supported versions of Fedora. While only one tracking bug has been filed, please correct all affected versions at the same time. If you need to fix the versions independent of each other, you may clone this bug as appropriate. Reproducers, if any, will remain confidential and never be made public, unless done so by the security team.
Use the following template to for the 'fedpkg update' request to submit an update for this issue as it contains the top-level parent bug(s) as well as this tracking bug. Proposed as a Blocker for 27-final by Fedora user labbott using the blocker tracking app because: This contains a fix for CVE-2017-5123 kernel: Missing access_ok() checks in waitid() . This was written up in LWN and the reproducer is fairly simple so this should really go in under the security criteria.
The criterion for Final is "The release must contain no known security bugs of 'important' or higher impact according to the Red Hat severity classification scale which cannot be satisfactorily resolved by a package update (e.g. issues during installation)." Do we have an impact assessment for this? If it's 'important' or higher, +1 blocker. Otherwise, +1 FE.

Discussed during the 2017-10-23 blocker review meeting: [1] The decision to classify this bug as an AcceptedBlocker was made as it violates the following blocker criteria: "The release must contain no known security bugs of 'important' or higher impact according to the Red Hat severity classification scale which cannot be satisfactorily resolved by a package update (e.g. issues during installation)."
