Description of problem:
Abiword screen flickers when on the xfce desktop

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
abiword-3.0.2-8.fc27.x86_64


How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Login with Xfce as your desktop
2.Launch abiword
3.

Actual results:
Abiword flickers, making it annoying if not impossible to use

Expected results:
Abiword should not flicker.

Additional info:
This has been a problem since at least Fedora 25. Somebody should fix it already:)

I am sympathetic -- but in trying to build according to the instructions in the checkout, it quickly becomes clear that they are out of date

It is said by the upstream (see the other bug into which this was closed) that at least part of this is fixed, but as I cannot get a build, I cannot confirm of deny that assertion
