Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
Cause: Dynamic provisioning of Cinder volumes stops working after certain amount of time. OpenShift restart resolves this problem temporarily. That's because OpenShift is not able to re-authenticate to OpenStack Keystone V3. Consequence: It is not possible to create new Cinder volumes using dynamic provisioning. Fix: The OpenShift re-authentication to OpenStack Keystone V3 was fixed. Result: Dynamic provisioning of new Cinder volumes works as documented.

Description Jack Ottofaro 2017-12-20 16:56:11 UTC
Description of problem:

Bug 1491331 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1491331) was fixed and released in OCP 3.7. My customer has requested that this fix be backported to version 3.6.

They are currently on OCP 3.5 and will need to move from 3.5 to 3.6 and then, possibly to 3.7. They may need to sit on 3.6 for some time since they haven’t felt comfortable enough with 3.6 to consider moving from 3.5 yet. Additionally, they haven’t been able to evaluate 3.7 to determine if there’s enough value (bug fixes, feature enhancements. etc) to move to it yet either. Considering their back-end storage is Cinder, the referenced bug is a major regression problem for them causing delay in moving between minor releases.

Brad, per our conversation yesterday, this backport needs approval. Can you please talk to PM?
