All kernels above 4.14 seem to fail to boot on a P50 (docked) with external monitors (using display port). I also found it did not boot just with the laptop docker but no monitors plugged into the dock. The laptop was tested in discrete and hybrid graphics modes. The hang was observed as the standard "Reached Target Basic System" but I couldn't get any more debug. I know a number of us have had trouble with this so it is probably time to generate a bugzilla. ○ → lspci -vv 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v5/E3-1500 v5/6th Gen Core Processor Im happy to provide more debug as requested.
I'd recommend testing a rawhide kernel to see if the bug has been fixed there. Failing that, your best bet is to do a kernel bisect. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1527669 ***
