Fedora 33 currently has sqlcipher 4.1, which was released on 12 Mar 2019. https://github.com/sqlcipher/sqlcipher/releases What's the process in Fedora on how I can help to get the current version into Fedora 33? Why has it not been updated in Fedora 32 and Fedora 31?

Hi Johannes, unfortunately I think this package is essentially unmaintained and there won't be any changes unless someone (you?) steps up and takes over maintenance. - Fedora 33 ships sqlcipher 3.4.1 (released in December 2016) - sole maintainer (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/sqlcipher) is siddharths (https://src.fedoraproject.org/user/siddharths) who was not active at all in 2020 (probably even longer). - last update was done by Rex Dieter (a prolific Fedora packager but not listed as package maintainer) in August 2017 (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/sqlcipher/c/6eaf905ffc86a02108ce37f702265e7b800330d5?branch=master) - There is an open pull request since December 2018 (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/sqlcipher/pull-request/1) which got no reply so far. The only reason why this package is still in Fedora is that it continues to build and nobody was annoyed enough to start a non-responsive maintainer process. If you are interested in taking care of this package in Fedora in the next year (or longer) please consider becoming a Fedora package maintainer. Don't be intimidated by seemingly strict requirements etc. If you like I can provide some guidance (though I'm not a sponsor).

Hi Felix, I've updated the package to the latest version (4.4.3) and created a PR: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/sqlcipher/pull-request/2 Do you have provenpackager rights to review and merge the PR? Hopefully, we can get this updated for F34.
nope, not a provenpackager. However using provenpackager powers does not seem the best course of action here anyway. I suggest: - send an email to Rex Dieter (who updated this package last time - 3 years ago) and siddharths (maintainer) - wait for 1-2 days (as it seems obvious that this package is unmaintained (age of this bug) - start a non-responsive maintainer process and take over the package
PS: Thanks for updating the package btw.
I've got in touch with Siddharth Sharma and he added me as a co-maintainer of sqlcipher. I've merged the PR which updates it to the latest version (4.4.3): https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/sqlcipher/pull-request/2.
