Description Yosi Ben Shimon 2018-01-09 15:52:39 UTC
Description of problem:
Deactivation of Storage Domain fails but just before that, a green "Finished Deactivating Storage Domain..." message appears.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ovirt-engine-4.2.1-0.2.el7.noarch
WebAdmin version: 4.2.1-0.2.el7

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. WebAdmin UI: Create a new SD (NFS preferred) with disk attached to a VM.
2. WebAdmin UI: To make sure OVF update will be triggered change the VM name.
3. VDSM host: change the relevant SD images on (rhev/data/...) user &group ownership from kvm:vdsm (or 36:36) to root:root via :

"chwon root:root <image_path>"

4. Deactivate relevant SD and DO NOT check 'Ignore OVF update failure'.

Actual results:
The green "Finished Deactivating Storage Domain..." message appears but the SD is not deactivated.

Expected results:
The green "Finished Deactivating Storage Domain..." message appears only after the SD deactivated successfully.

Additional info:

Comment 1 Yosi Ben Shimon 2018-02-18 15:01:37 UTC
Tested using:
ovirt-engine-4.2.2-0.1.el7.noarch

The actual result is that after changing the ownership and changing the VM name, it fails to set the SD in maintenance.
But, the UI is not alerting with a notification. The error is only appeared in the 'Events' tab.

Moving to VERIFIED
