Description of problem: Scan alignment is a feature that is only relevant to OSes that are no longer supported. Therefore we no longer want to support it and remove it.
Richard, can you confirm that scan alignment is not needed any more?
Let's wait for Richard to weigh in here, but according to [1] this relates to "Operating systems older than Windows 2008 and Linux before ca.2010". [1] http://libguestfs.org/virt-alignment-scan.1.html
Right, exactly as Allon says. I don't know if you're supporting those still.
Derek, we are going to remove the Scan Alignment feature in the upcoming 4.3 release. I went over the current (4.2 beta) administration guide and could not find any reference to it, but asking just to on the safe side - is there anything we need to do preemptively in 4.2 from a documentation standpoint before removing this feature in 4.3? Do we need a separate BZ for it?
Allon, it was deprecated in 4.2 and will be removed in 4.3? Is that correct?
(In reply to Derek from comment #6) > Allon, it was deprecated in 4.2 and will be removed in 4.3? Is that correct? Correct.
The "scan alignment" feature is no longer available in: ovirt-engine-4.3.0-0.0.master.20181016132820.gite60d148.el7.noarch VERIFIED
