Description Zbigniew Luszpinski 2018-01-13 13:56:53 UTC
Description of problem:
xrdp package or its dependency xorgxrdp package requires xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.5-1.fc27.x86_64. That is why update to xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.6-1.fc27.x86_64 package is blocked by rdp.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
dnf update

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install xrdp
2. dnf update

Actual results:
dnf -y update --best --allowerasing
To have latest xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.6-1.fc27.x86_64 all xrdp packages were removed.
Modified packages:
    Updated xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.5-1.fc27.x86_64 @fedora
    Updated 1.19.6-1.fc27.x86_64 @updates
    Removed xorgxrdp-0.2.5-1.fc27.x86_64 @updates
    Removed xrdp-1:0.9.5-1.fc27.x86_64 @updates

Expected results:
Please recompile xrdp xorgxrdp against xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.6 so I can use xrdp with latest xorg server.

anyone knows if there's a way to automatically recompile xorgxrdp when theres a new version of xorg-x11-server-Xorg ?

There's been some over-zealous closing/duplicating of bugs going on here. Although the immediate problem has been solved, there is still an underlying problem that versions of these things are too tightly bound such that EVERY TIME RHEL releases a new version it breaks the EPEL rpm, then when that gets fixed, it wont work with CentOS until they update to complete the cycle.

A long term solution is needed, rather than just working around it by recompiling stuff and living with broken dependencies for a few weeks.

See bug 1644659, bug 1533122, bug 1534145, bug 1534697, bug 1533122. At lest one of them needs to remain open...
