Description of problem: pyscard in EPEL7 is at 1.6.16-2.el7. Upstream is at 1.9.6. I'd like to get python3 support for pyscard into EPEL7, but 1.6.16 does not support python3 (though i haven't tried 2to3). Options seem to be: * Update to 1.9.6 - this my break too many things, although it doesn't look like any other EPEL packages depend on pyscard at least. * Submit a new python3-pyscard package Thoughts?
Ping - Seth are you still around?
Wow, sorry. This completely fell off my radar. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1634871 Yes, the python2 packages are going away so we need to bump the version to support python3. I can try to find time soon. If you feel so inclined, please feel free to take it on.
I've filed https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/pyscard/pull-request/1 What are your thoughts on updating EPEL7 from 1.6.16 to 1.9.7?
I merged your PR, thanks a bunch! I'm not usually a fan of bumping a package in a big way in a GAed release, but if you could test it, I'd could be ok with it. I don't use it in EPEL.
Looking through the changelog and a quick diff leads me to think there is very little api difference if any between the two versions. With no other dependencies on pyscard in EPEL, I think it's okay to update it. I'll do that now.
