Description of problem: The Fedora specific plasmoid setup scripts change the default icon to the Fedora icon when the Fedora "Look and Feel" theme is selected. If Breeze or Breeze-dark is selected, clearing the icon for the menu in the menu settings should revert the menu icon back to the Plasma default. This works 100% as expected for the Application Launcher, but fails to change the icon back to the default Plasma icon on the Application Menu. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select "Breeze" from the "Look and Feel" Workspace Theme 2. Check "Use Desktop Layout from theme" and Apply 3. Right click the Application Launcher, select "Alternatives, and select "Application Menu" 4. Right click the Application Menu, and select "Application Menu Settings" 5. Click on the Fedora icon, and select "Clear Icon" Actual results: Icon remains the Fedora icon. Expected results: Clearing the icon should change it to the Plasma icon. Additional info: This might due to some upstream neglect of the Application Menu. The scripts in the /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.fedoraproject.fedora.desktop/contents/plasmoidsetupscripts (from the kde-settings-plasma package) look to be correct. Some other distributions handle this type of branding with a more comprehensive Plasma theme (i.e., openSUSE).
So, it should be fairly easy to convert the current Fedora theme to a more traditional KDE theme, if that is something the Fedora KDE group wishes to do. 1. Remove the plasmoidsetupscripts, 2. change the "[plasmarc][Theme]" section of the /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.fedoraproject.fedora.desktop/contents/defaults file to "name=F27", and 3. then just place the appropriate "start.svgz" icon in /usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/F27/icons would do the trick. That doesn't fix the specific way the plasmoidsetupscripts seem to break, but it would cause the Fedora theme to behaving just like all other KDE themes, which would sort of nullify this bug anyway.
that's certainly a nicer way of doing it, thanks.
