RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description John Sefler 2018-02-27 22:48:04 UTC
Description of problem:

The following RHN base channels are not mapped to product certs in the mapping file /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt

  rhel-ppc64le-server-7
  rhel-aarch64-server-7

The consequence of the missing channel map is that a RHEL7.5 customer who has used rhnreg_ks to register to a Satellite 5 system and decides to use rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm to install the corresponding product certs (279.pem for rhel-ppc64le-server-7; 294.pem for rhel-aarch64-server-7) to enable using subscription-manager tooling for entitlements would be blocked.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
[root@rhel75 ~]# rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
subscription-manager-migration-data-2.0.39-1.el7.noarch

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
[root@rhel75 ~]# egrep "^rhel-ppc64le-server-7:" /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
[root@rhel75 ~]#
[root@rhel75 ~]# egrep "^rhel-aarch64-server-7:" /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
[root@rhel75 ~]#

Actual results:
above - no hits when grepping for these two RHN base channels.

Expected results:
  expected to find a mapping.

Comment 1 John Sefler 2018-02-27 22:48:47 UTC
This bug is actually a regression from the version of subscription-manager-migration-data released on RHEL7.4....

[root@rhel74 ~]# rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
subscription-manager-migration-data-2.0.37-1.el7.noarch
[root@rhel74 ~]#
[root@rhel74 ~]# egrep "^rhel-ppc64le-server-7:" /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
rhel-ppc64le-server-7: Server-Server-ppc64le-bd92fdadb07c-279.pem
[root@rhel74 ~]#
[root@rhel74 ~]# egrep "^rhel-aarch64-server-7:" /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
rhel-aarch64-server-7: Server-Server-aarch64-bbd925e5eeb0-294.pem
[root@rhel74 ~]#

Comment 6 John Sefler 2018-08-21 18:41:13 UTC
Verifying that a fix for RHN channel "rhel-ppc64le-server-7" has been applied in the latest build of subscription-manager-migration-data targeted for RHEL7.6...

[root@rhel76 ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager-migration-data
subscription-manager-migration-data-2.0.45-1.el7.noarch

[root@rhel76 ~]# egrep "^rhel-ppc64le-server-7:" /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
rhel-ppc64le-server-7: Server-Server-ppc64le-6e76926e7fdb-279.pem

[root@rhel76 ~]# rct cat-cert /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/Server-Server-ppc64le-6e76926e7fdb-279.pem | grep -A8 "Product:"
