In your screencast, you are using "Intelligent pinyin" (ibus-libpinyin), not ibus-typing-booster. ibus-libpinyin apparently does not support emoji input. You can search for emoji in Chinese by using ibus-libpinyin to type into the search entry of emoji picker though.
