Description of problem: The display backlight doesn't work. I see only a grey rectangle with percent line. How reproducible: I have a notebook Samsung Ativ Book 6 (670Z5E). I use Fedora 27. When I try to change display backlight brightness I see only a rectangle with a percent line, but brightness doesn't change. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Press Fn+F2/Fn+F3 Actual results: There is a grey rectangle with percent line. Nothing else. Expected results: Change brightness of display backlight. Hi, Can you try adding: acpi_backlight=video To your kernel commandline? I believe that that will fix this. If this fixes this please run: sudo dmidecode > dmidecode.log And attach the generated dmidecode.log here, then I can add a quirk to the kernel to make the acpi_backlight=video behavior the default on your model laptop.
