Description Jiri Konecny 2018-03-16 12:38:37 UTC
Description of problem:
Evolution badly shows case sensitivity for "View -> All message headers", all the "X-bugzilla-version" and similar header items has capital first letter but everything else are lowercase. However, when you use "View -> Message source" then it is (and this is correct) "X-Bugzilla-Version".

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.26.6-1.fc27

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Look on email with header items (for example from bugzilla)
2. Look on "View -> All message headers"
3. Look on "View -> Message source"
4. Compare results

Actual results:
The "View -> All message headers" solution shows badly first capital letter only which is not correct.

Expected results:
The "View -> All message headers" solution should show correct message headers.

Additional info:
It is really annoying because your filters won't work in case you use the first, broken solution.

Thanks for a bug report. I can confirm that the header names in View->All messages headers and "canonicalized" and looking deeply into this the canonicalization is broken (it was supposed to be a capital letter also after each '-', but there is a bug in the code for it). I'll fix this part. The thing is that the code tries to show the headers nicely, it's not meant to be the same as message source.

Are you sure with this, please? Header names are case insensitive and header-related filtering does use case insensitive compare. Do you have an example of the filter where the different case causes an issue? If you do, then it is another bug which should be fixed.

Comment 2 Milan Crha 2018-03-19 10:09:32 UTC
I corrected the the canonize function upstream for 3.29.1+ [1] and 3.28.1+.

I keep this open for the filter part.

Comment 3 Ben Cotton 2018-11-27 16:34:35 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 27 is nearing its end of life.
On 2018-Nov-30 Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for
Fedora 27. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases
that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as
EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '27'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 27 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 4 Ben Cotton 2018-11-30 20:29:48 UTC
Fedora 27 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-11-30. Fedora 27 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
