RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 11 Andrew Lau 2018-03-26 23:00:44 UTC
For anybody else following this bug report publicly, a temporary workaround would be to
explicitly set “IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes” in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and to touch /var/lib/cloud/data/upgraded-network as this will prevent cloud-init from overwriting it upon the next reboot.

Comment 19 Vitaly Kuznetsov 2018-04-19 11:59:43 UTC
I'm proposing our change upstream:
https://code.launchpad.net/~vkuznets/cloud-init/+git/cloud-init/+merge/343601

Depending on the outcome we'll make a decision about this BZ.

Comment 20 Robin Cernin 2018-04-26 02:03:12 UTC
The upstream change is Merged, could we get a testbuild?
Thank you

(In reply to Robin Cernin from comment #20)
> The upstream change is Merged, could we get a testbuild?

Sure,

http://download.eng.bos.redhat.com/brewroot/work/tasks/4051/15904051/cloud-init-0.7.9-25.bug1558854.el7.x86_64.rpm

this is the same build I provided in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1558854#c15

It reverts unconditional "IPV6_AUTOCONF" disabling. Amazon's manual will have to be updated to state that both "dhcp6" and "dhcp" subnets now need to be specified.

Comment 26 Rick Barry 2018-05-15 18:55:54 UTC
Pablo, if you're asking about the need for a hot fix, I'm not aware of a request for that. Customers have a work-around, but Robin Cernin may have an opinion on whether a hot-fix needed.

Comment 36 Vitaly Kuznetsov 2018-05-23 07:26:16 UTC
I submitted pull request to AWS docs to get their doc fixed:
https://github.com/awsdocs/amazon-vpc-user-guide/pull/5

Comment 49 Vitaly Kuznetsov 2018-06-11 16:09:59 UTC
In the meantime my poll request got merged and Amazon's doc
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonVPC/latest/UserGuide/vpc-migrate-ipv6.html#ipv6-dhcpv6-rhel
is now correct.
