To backport this fix to 5.8 we would need to upgrade the pglogical extension.

To do that a user would need to restart the postgres server in each region. Is this something we want to do in an errata release?

As this only happens with modified config and not with out of the box config I would not backport. I think a knowledgebase article is in order so if anyone else has modified this might come up in a search.
