When the wifi hotspot is turned on, this problem happens sometimes, sometimes not.  It also happens (or not) with kernel 4.15.14-300.fc27.x86_64.

Description of problem:
I did a fresh installation of fedora 26. then upgraded to 27 using the dnf upgrade tool. Got this error after booting into fedora 27.

Abrt happened with kernel-core-4.15.17-300.fc27.  Abrt is intermittent.  Same symptoms - hotspot works fine.

Today when I turned on the wifi hotspot (nmcli radio wifi on; nmcli con up id "Hotspot"), I experienced a hard freeze - manual power off required.  After rebooting, the hotspot worked fine, although it aborted again.
My system is upgraded nightly.  Current kernel is 4.16.3-200.fc27.x86_64.

The abrt has happened intermittently 7 times since 4/19.

Another hard freeze while turning on wifi hotspot, this time with kernel 4.16.4-200.fc27.x86_64.  After reboot, wifi hotspot worked OK, with no freeze and no abrt.

Another freeze when turning on wifi hotspot, kernel 4.16.6-202.fc27.x86_64.

This freeze wasn't complete:
A Ctrl-C gave:
"Error: Connection activation failed: Not authorized to control networking"
Pressing and releasing power button brought up power off dialog box.  When
60 second countdown completed screen greyed out for a while, then brightened
again - never powered off.  Pressing Alt hightlighted CANCEL button - but
cursor still frozen, and still unable to switch to console.

Turning on/off the wifi hotspot using the gnome gui works fine.

However, still getting a "soft lockup" using sudo nmcli radio wifi on; sudo nmcli con up id "Hotspot", with kernel 4.16.9-200.fc27.x86_64.  The "soft lockup" prevents cursor movement and prevents switching to a console - it prevents anything except power off.  Briefly pressing the power button results in a power off countdown dialog box followed by repeating error messages:
[...] watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 23s! [kworker /1:0:2518].  Actually the error messages said "23s!" for the first 3, and then "22s!" for the following ones.  After the first 3 error messages, perhaps as a result of pressing Ctrl-C, got an error message:

Today with new kernel (4.16.11-200.fc27.x86_64), turning on wifi hotspot using gnome gui caused hard freeze.

Second attempt turning on wifi hotspot using gnome gui worked fine - did not freeze - same kernel: 4.16.11-200.fc27.x86_64.

After upgrading to F28 on June 1, I have not experienced any problems using wifi / hotspot, either using nmcli or using the gnome wifi settings gui.  No more freezes.

Description of problem:
Approximately every other boot hangs.
Have to press power button for more than 4 seconds to kill the machine (HP355 laptop).
