RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Matthias Clasen 2018-04-13 14:10:30 UTC
As part of the desktop rebase in 7.6, we need to rebase dconf to the version that is shipped with GNOME 3.28.

Comment 2 Kalev Lember 2018-05-07 13:55:28 UTC
Rebase branch: http://pkgs.devel.redhat.com/cgit/rpms/dconf/log/?h=private-rhel-7.6-rebase

Marek, can you look over the downstream patches please and push fixes to the branch if necessary? I dropped one patch and kept the other, not sure if it's correct. Would also be great to get dconf-0.26.0-permissions.patch upstream.

Comment 3 Marek Kašík 2018-05-23 16:35:41 UTC
Hi Kalev,

thank you for the rebase. I've looked at the branch and added back the dconf-dbus-1 library because of ABI compatibility.
However there is still one difference between 7.5 version and the new one, soname. The 7.5 version does not have soname for libdconfsettings.so where the new one does. I've tested it locally and gsettings worked so I hope that it won't be an issue.

Btw, I've tried to get the dconf-0.26.0-permissions.patch upstream but it was not accepted yet: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=758066.

Comment 4 Kalev Lember 2018-05-23 16:44:28 UTC
Great, thanks! I've built it in https://copr.devel.redhat.com/coprs/klember/rhel-7-gnome-3-28/builds/ as well now. Feel free to request access in the copr if you want to try building anything else off the private-rhel-7.6-rebase branches.

Are you talking about a symptom which is reported in following KB?

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3381781
Error message "unable to create file '/run/user/0/dconf/user': Permission denied" recurring in the /var/log/messages file

The patch is for a different issue.
