Description Raphael Groner 2018-04-14 13:45:31 UTC
Created attachment 1421778 [details]
sample screenshot of nm-tray menu with empty entries

Description of problem:
The popup menu of nm-tray icon in systray area shows several empty entries with a red network icon only. See attachment for a sample.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nm-tray-0.3.0-2.fc27.x86_64

How reproducible:
maybe?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install nm-tray
2. add nm-tray to autostart (needed manually?) [of LXQt settings, if relevant]
3. login to LXQt session
4. click with left mouse button on the systray icon of nm-tray

Actual results:
empty entries in menu list

Expected results:
no empty entries, or please explain why those entries

Additional info:
Someone may scroll down to see any usable entries, those seem to represent the persistent settings of Network Manager like done so with network-manager-applet.

Still reproducible with v0.4.1 and I'll investigate.

Comment 5 Ben Cotton 2018-11-27 14:49:25 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 27 is nearing its end of life.
On 2018-Nov-30 Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for
Fedora 27. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases
that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as
EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '27'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 27 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Ben Cotton 2018-11-30 22:22:40 UTC
Fedora 27 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-11-30. Fedora 27 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 7 Raphael Groner 2019-01-15 16:52:46 UTC
This package is not useful without NetworkManager.
It has been planned to become an alternative or replaced at least with the GUI components but there are weird non-volatile dependencies.

Comment 8 Raphael Groner 2019-01-15 19:44:09 UTC
Zamir, is this bug of any relevance for the LXQT spin?

If the answer is no, then I'd tend to orphan this package with announcement on devel list.

Comment 9 Zamir SUN 2019-01-16 03:28:13 UTC
Hi,

Firstly, nm-tray works fine for me on my LXQt Fedora 29.
On the other hand, I just generated a testing LiveCD ISO by excluding nm-applet from the kickstart file, it works fine. So I think it won't affect LXQt.
