When a process was reading Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) statistics provided through the sysfs interface, the system code was performing a sleep operation while holding a lock. This sometimes caused the system to halt unexpectedly. With this update, the code no longer sleeps while there is a lock held. As a result, the described problem no longer occurs.
