Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Bug 1578059

Summary: Greatest NVR version of conntrack-tools for ppc64le and x86_64 are different.

Fixed In Version: conntrack-tools-1.4.4-4.el7 Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
Cause: In RHEL 7.3 zstream a bug fix was released which had the same Version and first part of release was same but the z-stream added .el7_3 to be added which made it greatest NVR as can be seen by rpmdev-vercmp 1.4.4-3.el7 1.4.4-3.el7_3 ==> 1.4.4-3.el7 < 1.4.4-3.el7_3 Consequence: When installing content using released rhel 7.5 content you would get 1.4.4-3.el7_3 if it was included in repo or 1.4.4-3.el7 if you didn't have any of the prior zstream content. Fix: Minor bump and rebuild to fix rpm comparisons. Result: yum install will always get same version of conntrack-tools regardless of if your current repo included prior rhel 7 zstream content or not.

Description Jon Schlueter 2018-05-14 17:57:34 UTC
Description of problem:

Investigating a different issue when we ran into a problem where the Greatest version of conntrack-tools for ppc64le and x86_64 platforms don't line up.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7.ppc64le.rpm
conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7.x86_64.rpm
conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7_3.x86_64.rpm

How reproducible:

always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable pulp repos for rhel 7 (on x86_64 and on ppc64le)
2. yum install -y conntrack-tools
3. both should have rhel-7.4 released build conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7 installed

Actual results:

ppc64le has it installed
x86_64 has conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7_3.x86_64.rpm installed

Expected results:

Both have the same and latest build of conntrack-tools installed (conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7 or later)

Additional info:

Comment 11 Jon Schlueter 2018-07-30 16:24:58 UTC
any chance that this could get resolved for next RHEL 7 release?

Comment 13 Jon Schlueter 2018-08-22 13:19:36 UTC
might it be possible to either get it into 7.6 or into 7.6.z

all I'm asking for is a bump/rebuild so that the latest build can be shipped to all arches and not cause issues when trying to use the build for container builds across multiple arches.

Comment 16 Jon Schlueter 2018-08-23 14:49:32 UTC
Any chance of getting a rebuild of conntrack-tools which will allow the most recent build in rhel 7 be the greatest NVR that would be installed?

Comment 18 Jon Schlueter 2018-08-24 16:29:43 UTC
Thanks for getting a build.

Comment 26 Jon Schlueter 2018-09-10 13:47:31 UTC
Bad situation where 7.4 version is less than 7.4

$ rpmdev-vercmp 1.4.4-3.el7 1.4.4-3.el7_3
1.4.4-3.el7 < 1.4.4-3.el7_3

Verified 7.6 version will be greater than 7.3 version

$ rpmdev-vercmp 1.4.4-3.el7_3 1.4.4-4.el7
1.4.4-3.el7_3 < 1.4.4-4.el7

Verified 7.6 version will be greater than 7.4 version

$ rpmdev-vercmp 1.4.4-3.el7 1.4.4-4.el7
1.4.4-3.el7 < 1.4.4-4.el7

I hope that helps.

If you are wanting to verify it via yum

Enable current 7.5 latest version from pulp

conntrack-tools-1.4.4-3.el7_3

then enable testing repo for 7.6 content and run yum install conntrack-tools

it should prompt to update to conntrack-tools-1.4.4-4.el7
