Doc Text:
rhosp-director-images are now multi-arch. OSP 13 now has overcloud full and ironic python agent images for ppc64le. The resulting rhosp-director-images were adjusted to accommodate this change. As a result, rhosp-director-images and rhosp-director-images-ipa are now meta-packages, with rhosp-director-images-<arch> and rhosp-director-images-ipa-<arch> rpms added for multi-arch support.

Description Tony Breeds 2018-05-16 04:40:30 UTC
Currently rhosp-director-images only contains x86_64 images and the naming of the package limits adding new architectures binaries.

I propose restructuring the SPEC file such that:

* Update docs to say rhosp-director-images-$arch
* move existing images and images-ipa to image-x86_64 and images-ipa-x86_64
* Update requires to include $arch
* add meta-rpms called images and images-ipa that require the -x86_64
versions to maintain backwards compat and no other content
* add meta rpm call rhosp-director-images-all that requires all the
arch specific packages

Note: i'm fine with either rhosp-director-images-ipa-x86_64 or
rhosp-director-images-x86_64-ipa. I like the first slightly more, but
fine either way.

This would mean:
rhosp-director-images-all:
  Requires rhosp-director-images-x86_64 = verrel
  Requires: rhosp-director-images-x86_64-ipa = verrel
  Requires rhosp-director-images-ppc64le = verrel
  Requires: rhosp-director-images-ppc64le-ipa = verrel

rhosp-director-images:
  Requires: rhosp-director-images-x86_64 = verrel

rhosp-director-images-ipa:
  Requires: rhosp-director-images-x86_64-ipa = verrel

rhosp-director-images-x86_64
  Requires: rhosp-director-images-x86_64-ipa = verrel

rhosp-director-images-x86_64-ipa
No requires -- it's sometimes used for overcloud ironic and
shouldn't pull the overcloud image in that case

As this has an impact on documentation I feel that we need this in the RC rather than than a ZStream. It would be strange to have a user visible change like this happen at that phase of the release.

Comment 3 Jon Schlueter 2018-08-20 15:45:33 UTC
sub-rpms have been added and adjusted

rhosp-director-images-x86_64
rhosp-director-images-ppc64le
rhosp-director-images-ipa-x86_64
rhosp-director-images-ipa-ppc64le

renamed
octavia-amphora => octavia-amphora-x86_64
with provides entry for octavia-amphora

rhosp-director-images-all which has requires on both ppc64le and x86_64 overcloud and ipa images
rhosp-director-images is now meta-package with Requires on rhosp-director-images-x86_64

Also preun and posttrans hooks have been added that call into rhosp-director-image-update script from rhosp-release that updates the symlinks in /usr/share/rhosp-director-images
