Description Jason Haar 2018-05-17 02:29:55 UTC
Description of problem:

I had medaiwiki123 happily running on a CentOS-7+epel server and went to bring up another, and discovered it's not available.

However, all the associated mediaiwiki123-* packages still are, and they don't like it that their parent has disappeared. eg

yum install mediawiki123-RSS
Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
---> Package mediawiki123-RSS.noarch 0:2.25.0-1.el7 will be installed
--> Processing Dependency: mediawiki123 for package: mediawiki123-RSS-2.25.0-1.el7.noarch
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: mediawiki123-RSS-2.25.0-1.el7.noarch (epel)
           Requires: mediawiki123
 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
 You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I just checked and the primary download server shows the issue too - got all the mediawiki123-* packages but not mediawiki123 itself

Comment 2 Todd Zullinger 2018-05-17 02:51:08 UTC
The package was retired in March because MediaWiki 1.23 is EOL. It seems like those packages should be retired as well since they require mediawiki123. I'm adding Patrick to CC as the maintainer of the retired package and the remaining mediawiki123-* packages.

EPEL 7 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2024-06-30.\n\nEPEL 7 is no longer maintained, which means that it\nwill not receive any further security or bug fix updates.\n As a result we are closing this bug.
