Hello all, one of our customers is running his infrastructure on RHV, installing his hypervisors from Node (RHV-H) isos. He is also using Satellite 5 for managing his RHEL infrastructure. After upgrading his Satellite to the version 5.8 he needs to install rhn-virtualization-host package on the hypervisors to be able to monitor virtual machines running on it in the Satellite 5.8 GUI. Because he is using the isos only and do not want to install any packages from other sources, he's requesting to include the rhn-virtualization-host package into the RHV-H iso. -Roman
QE will check whether RHVH include rhn-virtualization-host package by default.
Hi Roman, as we want to keep the footprint of the RHV-H Image as small as possible, it does not look like a good idea adding rhn-virtualization-host to this. Reasons: In case the system is managed by satellite, the package can be installed from satellite directly after the installation. Satellite 5.8 is the old product, so there is no long term need for adding this package anyways. So is there a business or technical justification that the customer can't do the following instead: - Create his own ISO with rhn-virtualization-host included - Install the package from Satellite once the RHV-H is deployed The latter could be easily achieved by an ansible script as well, including the registration to the Satellite. Thanks! Martin
