RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

This isn't going to be available in time for 7.6, but we can target 7.7. In the interim, heres a link to some scratch rpms with the commands enable for you to confirm that they work as expected:

Comment 4 Daniel Forsberg 2018-05-30 19:44:48 UTC
Hi!

Thanks!

What do you men cant target 7.6?
This is a minor update that only affects the ipxe kernel file ipxe.lkrn adding the vcreate and vdestroy commands to it.

There should be no problem to update RHEL 7.5 with this.

Comment 5 Neil Horman 2018-05-30 19:59:23 UTC
I mean exactly what I said. 7.5 has long been released, and 7.6 is about to go out the door. feature updates have already been planned for that release, and 7.7 is the next one undergoing planning. If you want this fix in 7.5 or 7.6 this needs to be filed against 7.7 and z-stream requests need to be made through your support representative (though feature enhancements normally don't qualify for z-stream releases).

Did the package I give you the commands you needed, and do they function as expected?

Comment 6 Neil Horman 2018-06-12 14:59:16 UTC
ping, any response here?

Comment 7 Daniel Forsberg 2018-06-15 07:55:38 UTC
Hi,

Sorry for late reply.

I have tested it and can confirm that the vcreate and vdestroy parts work in that build!

Thanks!

Comment 8 Neil Horman 2018-06-15 11:11:14 UTC
Ok, I'll propose this for 7.7 then, and will integrate if its accepted
