This is a tracking bug for Change: Changes/Update festival to 2.5 For more details, see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Update_festival_to_2.5 Update the packaged festival speech synthesis system to the latest upstream version. And just as a bonus make it actually work.
See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1457878#c21.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 29 development cycle. Changing version to '29'.
According to the Fedora 29 schedule[1], today is the deadline for changes to be in a testable state. If your change is ready to be tested, please set the status to ON_QA. A list of incomplete changes will be sent to FESCo tomorrow for evaluation. If you know your change will not be ready for Fedora 29, you can set the version to rawhide and notify bcotton. [1] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/29/Schedule
If i could get somewhat a packager sponsorship, i could move further, the testable state is so far only in the tyrylu/festival-reborn copr repository. :(
Today is the '100% code complete deadline' Change Checkpoint[1], meaning that Fedora 29 Changes must now be code complete. All the code required to enable to the new change should now be finished. If your Change is code complete, please update the status of this tracker back to "ON_QA". The change does not have to be fully tested by this deadline. We have now reached the Beta freeze. If your Change is not code complete, you need to request a Freeze Exception[2] or invoke the contingency plan. Does that mean that because the packages are not in the repos yet, they'll have to wait for f30? They're functional and feature complete, but unfortunately not reviewed yet, or at least not all of them.
That's up to how FESCo chooses to interpret the word "implemented", but they did vote to defer to Fedora 30 if it's not implemented by the freeze: https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-1/2018-08-27/fesco.2018-08-27-15.00.log.html#l-486
Yes, because of the dates involved, i would not be surprised if the change would be postponed, but yes, we need likely someone from FESCO to interpret the conditions exactly.
