Description Lucy Bopf 2018-07-25 04:37:26 UTC
From the dev BZ:

"The new boot_hostdev hook allows virtual machines to boot from passed through host devices such as NIC VF's, PCI-E SAS/RAID Cards, SCSI devices for example without requiring a normal bootable disk from a Red Hat Virtualization storage domain or direct LUN."

The new hook and its usage must be documented.

Comment 1 Lucy Bopf 2018-07-25 04:39:00 UTC
The new hook is documented in a README here:

https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/84408/6/vdsm_hooks/boot_hostdev/README

Comment 2 Lucy Bopf 2018-07-25 04:47:12 UTC
Accepting as a late entry to the 4.2.5 program, and assigning to Tahlia for review.

Tahlia, please work this one for 4.2.5 as your other commitments allow.

Hi Michal,

From https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1511234#c5 it looks like we don't want to officially support this hook in RHV, and only a KCS is required. Can you confirm that this is still the case?

Comment 4 Michal Skrivanek 2018-07-26 06:47:36 UTC
correct, KCS is enough

Comment 5 Tahlia Richardson 2018-07-30 06:27:18 UTC
Thanks, Michal. Closing this bug.
