oVirt gerrit 98318 0 master MERGED webadmin: Display snapshot's disks in rows 2020-09-17 10:18:18 UTC

Description Marina Kalinin 2018-08-15 23:41:33 UTC
It is painfully inconvenient to look into the disks info under each snapshot, since they are represented now in blocks.

Disks should be represented in rows, similar (if not exact) to the way they are shown under disk tabs.

Why it is important to us? we need to look into snapshots disk with multiple disk when fixing snapshots in support cases and we need a convenient and easy to read representation of the disks, as it was in previous releases.

Comment 3 Marina Kalinin 2018-08-16 13:42:41 UTC
Also, maybe the team should be storage instead of UX? I dont' know.
I would like to run this change through Storage folks, to make sure I am not missing anything in my logic.

Comment 4 Marina Kalinin 2018-08-16 13:46:15 UTC
Ignore my previous comment, it was for another bug.

Comment 5 Michal Skrivanek 2018-08-22 12:40:15 UTC
Tal, would you agree with changing the layout?

Comment 6 Michal Skrivanek 2018-08-22 12:40:52 UTC
Laura, would you please provide a mock up?

Comment 7 Laura Wright 2018-08-22 13:30:14 UTC
Maria would you be able to provide a screenshot and attach it?

Snapshot disks

Comment 9 Tal Nisan 2018-08-22 13:33:44 UTC
Marina, in UX bug please add a screenshot so it'll be easier for everyone to understand.
So I've attached a screenshot of a snapshot containing 3 disks, seems like the info is quite clear there, what exactly is needed to change? Must it move to a configuration of rows because it's easier to display more verbose information in blocks

Comment 10 Laura Wright 2018-08-22 17:03:19 UTC
Here is a mockup featuring a table view in the snapshot tab instead of the blocks of text. What does everyone think? https://imgur.com/a/Hf42xIc

That looks good!

Thanks :) I wanted, but it seemed obvious to me, so I lazed out.

Tal, mainly consistency.
We show disks in rows everywhere else and the eyes are used to that representation. Also it takes more space when it is in blocks. When you have 11 disks, they will not fit on one page. While with rows, it definitely fits.

OK got it, the mock up looks OK to me Laura

Verified on ovirt-engine-4.3.2.1-0.1.el7.noarch.
Snapshot disks are shown in rows.
