Description beastmaster64 2018-08-17 07:28:56 UTC
Description of problem:

This happens randomly about 3 times a month: i'm using my machine, and then it just freezes up and stop working and I end up having to force reboot it.

This is not related to any one program that I have installed, it happens in competely random situations, like while web browsing, reading pdfs, playing quake3, using vim, sublime text...

I have no control over it and can't *Make it happen*.

I suspect my nvidia driver is causing the problem but i might be completely wrong.

Stuff you can use to diagnose the issue:

My hardware:
dell xps l401x with an i3 M 370, 8gigs of ddr3 ram, Nvidia geForce GT 420M(the laptop has nvidia optimus).

Nvidia driver im using: 384.98, installed manually

Comment 2 Laura Abbott 2018-10-01 21:36:54 UTC
We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 28 kernel bugs.

Fedora 28 has now been rebased to 4.18.10-300.fc28. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you have moved on to Fedora 29, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 29.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.

Comment 3 Laura Abbott 2018-11-26 21:08:22 UTC
This bug is being closed with INSUFFICIENT_DATA as there has not been a response in 2 weeks. If you are still experiencing this issue, please reopen and let us know if the bug is still present on the latest kernel.

(Please note: sometimes bugs get mistakenly closed during our mass closing. If you think your bug was closed in error please reopen)

Comment 4 Red Hat Bugzilla 2023-09-14 04:33:16 UTC
