Created attachment 1478903 [details] Screenshot of the kernel not loading When I try to boot using any 4.17.x kernel, fedora hangs on boot, trying to recover an hibernation that never happened: [ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device dev-mapper-fedora\x2d\x2dlvm\x2dswap.device [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Resume from hibernation using device /dev/mapper/fedora--lvm-swap I have to force a physical reboot as the kernel will not progress in loading. I tried removing the `resume=` option from the grub config (EFI system, I'm on a iMac), and the error message disappears, but the system **still will not boot**. It hangs and I have to keep pressed the power button to shut it down. Problem is not present when I use 4.16.x kernel, which I am currently using. Apparently, someone else had the same problem [1], which was fixed regenerating initramfs, but this solution did not work for me. I would like to provide more information, but I don't know how to capture the log of the kernel that fails to load (i.e. recover from a successful boot with 4.16 a log of the previous failed boot with 4.17). Taking a photo of the screen is not much of a help, I think, as the screen is cleared a little before it hangs (there's lots of messages before that). I'll attach a picture anyway, maybe it can be helpful. [1]: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/123351/unable-to-boot-with-kernel-417/
I tried again and while booting I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del: a message appears, and apparently the process is stuck there: A start job is running for dev-mapper-fedora/x2d/x2dlvm/x2droot.device I hope this could give an insight.
Problem does not occur with kernel 4.18.5.
Thanks for letting us know. I'm going to close the bug. If it reappears, feel free to reopen.
