The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Kickstart cli error message with GUI

Description of problem:

Program won't save configuration when password is entered and "Encrypt Root Password" is selected and the host is running with FIPS mode enabled.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

system-config-kickstart version 2.9.6

How reproducible:

Consistently reproduces issue as described.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Enable FIPS mode in kernel (fips=1)
2. Run system-config-kickstart
3. Type in any password in the password fields
4. Attempt to save configuration file with "Encrypt Root Password" selected

Actual results:

See attached screen shot.  Sorry, my RHEL systems are on an isolated network and it's a lot of text to type.

Expected results:

Created ks.cfg file.

After evaluating this issue, there are no plans to address it further or fix it in an upcoming release.  Therefore, it is being closed.  If plans change such that this issue will be fixed in an upcoming release, then the bug can be reopened.
