Description Boriso 2018-09-06 13:42:09 UTC
Description of problem:
When provisioning a VM, setting a storage domain has no effect on the provision.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
5.9

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In the left menu: Compute -> Infrastructure -> Virtual Machines
2. In the top menu: Lifecycle -> Provision VMs
3. Choose a template that belongs to a provider that has more than one storage domains and continue
4. In the Environment tab, under Datastore section, select a storage domain that is different from the storage domain the templates disk belongs to.
5. In the Hardware, for "Disk Format", select the "preallocated" option.
6. provision the vm

Actual results:
The disks of the provisioned vm belong to the storage domain that was defined in the template.

Expected results:
The disks of the provisioned vm belong to the storage domain defined in the provisioning dialog (step 4)

Comment 4 Radim Hrazdil 2018-09-18 08:47:02 UTC
When trying to provision a VM with preallocated disk, the provisioning request fails on:
[EVM] VM [test_sd] Step [CheckProvisioned] Status [Error Creating VM] Message [[OvirtSDK4::Error]: Fault reason is "Operation Failed". Fault detail is "[Cannot add VM. Disk configuration (COW Preallocated) is incompatible with the storage domain type.]...

The location of the disk does not make any difference. When provisioning with Thin Provisioning option, the request succeeds.

CFME: Version 5.10.0.15.20180914163601_fb02d7e
RHV: Version: 4.2.6.3-0.1.el7ev

Comment 6 Ilanit Stein 2018-10-04 07:01:06 UTC
The error mentioned in comment #4 is expected, in case the Template used for Provision is Thin provisioning/Qcow.

Moving bug to verified, on CFME-5.10.0.17/RHV-4.2.
Tested flows are attached ("Storage_check_5.10.0.17.png")
