Description Miro Hrončok 2018-09-17 13:07:15 UTC
In line with the Mass Python 2 Package Removal [0], the following (sub)packages of cairo-dock-plug-ins were marked for removal:

 * cairo-dock-python2

According to our query, those (sub)packages only provide a Python 2 importable module. If this is not true, please tell us why, so we can fix our query.

Please remove them from your package.

As said in the change document, if there is no objection in a week, we will remove the package(s) as soon as we get to it. This change might not match your packaging style, so we'd prefer if you did the change. If you need more time, please let us know here.

We hope this doesn't come to you as a surprise. If you want to know our motivation for this, please read the change document [0].

Because there is still users, I won't remove this for now.

Maintaining critical software without support from upstream is not fun, and it takes a lot of time.
That's why the current maintainers of python2 want to orphan it.

This bug is the place to coordinate and discuss how dropping python2 will affect your package.
There are several ways it can go:
- the (sub)package is removed from Fedora,
- we talk and decide when and how the package will best removed
  (for example, we can give guidance on switching to python3),
- you or someone else agrees to maintain python2 after it's orphaned, or
- you expect that we do boring work, for free, forever.

Since the bug was closed without discussion, we sadly assume the last option.

You'll get no further warning before we remove this package's dependencies.
If you want to talk about a better solution, just re-open the bug.
