Neutron from Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13 configured to use Open Virtual Network can be used as an external network provider on Red Hat Virtualization 4.2.8 with one limitation. If a VM with a vNIC on an external network provided by Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13 Neutron with OVN Modular Layer 2 plugin migrates to another host, the port status displays as ‘down’ despite the port working properly.

+++ This bug is a downstream clone. The original bug is: +++
+++   bug 1598391 +++
======================================================================

Description of problem:
RHV is planned to support OVN since it is GA in OSP 13. Certify OVN via Neutron API with external OSP provider.
This should use the same RHV OVN runtime driver that is used for the RHV OVN support.

Installation should still be done via OSP director networker role, not the RHV OVN native installation.

Comment 5 Sandro Bonazzola 2018-09-19 13:08:04 UTC
moving back to POST since there are unmerged referenced patches.

Comment 6 Sandro Bonazzola 2018-10-23 11:44:34 UTC
Moving to 4.2.8 not being identified as blocker for 4.2.7

Comment 8 Michael Burman 2018-12-03 12:10:33 UTC
Verified upstream with:
vdsm-hook-openstacknet-4.20.44-2.gitb8faa31.el7.noarch
openvswitch-ovn-common-2.9.0-56.el7fdp.x86_64
openvswitch-ovn-host-2.9.0-56.el7fdp.x86_64
Red Hat OpenStack Platform release 13.0 (Queens)
rhvm-4.2.8-0.1.el7ev.noarch

Certified with the only exception that the port's state is DOWN after migration, but everything is working as expected and VMs can communicate after migrations.
We will open a bug on this issue.
