Description Leslie Satenstein 2018-09-22 02:15:29 UTC
Created attachment 1485835 [details]
An example of a truncated image.

Description of problem:

Several subwindows of anaconda need resizing..
These are a) the informative window at the bottom of the screen
See thumbnails

Disk selection:
When an installion contains multiple disks and the installer person selects multiple disks, one able to click a link at the bottom of the screen to see which disk was selected as the boot drive, or to change from the default boot drive. This window is truncated on the right, and if you search with a magnifying glass, you will see the scroll bar on the bottom of that window.

For the window where we assign partitions to system files (eg /, /boot, ... ), there is an option to view the boot drive selection, but not to be able to correct same, without abandoning all assignments of System files to partitions.
In other words, abandon what you are doing, go back to the rescan and redo the boot drive selection,
The same boot drive selection should appear on both screens -- drive selection and system file assignment to boot drive.
If one has omitted to select the correct boot drive on the disk select screen.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

You must try the installation on real hardware, not via VM

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Tuncated images

Expected results:

Nice clean professional looking images to reflect the quality of Fedora product.

Additional info:

adding images.

When installing on a "live bare metal system", anaconda disables the print-screen function. Images were taken with my cellphone and transferred across.

Please advise if you need more images.
On one laptop, the anaconda image was wider than the laptop screen. The cancel button was visible, but the [launch] button was off the screen.

The boot drive selection. Note the truncation of the image to the right.

The image does not show it but there may be a horizontal scrollbar about 2 pixals high. I have several drives, all the same model number (note the image), and the drive location /sdc, /sdd etc is not in view.

The thumbnail 3 image is from the page where we assign file systems to partitions. eg /scratch to /dev/sde7 (in my case).

Drive selection summary, showing which drive is the boot drive

But we need to be able to change it here, otherwise anaconda forces us back to rescanning all drives, in order to select the boot drive.

Follow up
Display is 1920x1080 16:9

For the promotion screen that appears while anaconda is executing,
one image about music is two characters short
Shows as ... mus (ic is missing due to right margin.

The problem with banners is a duplicate of the bug 1573535.

Comment 8 Leslie Satenstein 2018-11-05 04:22:36 UTC
I noted that the faulty banners were removed.

I have a request (part of the above request)

On the drive selection window, bottom link can be clicked to open
the list of drives in order to select the boot drive

My system is configured with 5 disks, all WD, all showing the same basic information.

The boot drive selection has a scroll bar, barely visible. When I scroll to the right, I can then see /dev/sda, /dev/sd... --in bios sequence.

If this window is make wider, the entire driveid would fit in the wondow, negating the need for the scrollbar.

Comment 9 Leslie Satenstein 2018-11-29 17:40:10 UTC
Just to mention, on some terminals, the scrollbar is one or two pixals high and is not visible without deep inspection.

Please make window wide enough to see the /dev/sdx without scrolling

This message is a reminder that Fedora 29 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 29 on 2019-11-26.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '29'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 29 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.
