Description of problem: So far, I was able to keep libreoffice-help-en package out of my system: ~~~ $ cat /etc/dnf/dnf.conf [main] gpgcheck=1 installonly_limit=3 clean_requirements_on_remove=True keepcache=True exclude=libreoffice-gtk2,libreoffice-help-en,hunspell-en,sane-backends-drivers-cameras,gnome-tweaks,openssl-pkcs11 ~~~ After last LO update [1], it is pulled in: ~~~ $ dnf update Last metadata expiration check: 0:21:22 ago on Mon Oct 15 10:12:06 2018. Dependencies resolved. Problem 1: package libreoffice-langpack-en-1:6.1.2.1-1.fc30.x86_64 requires libreoffice-help-en, but none of the providers can be installed - cannot install the best update candidate for package libreoffice-langpack-en-1:6.1.1.2-1.fc30.x86_64 - package libreoffice-help-en-1:6.1.2.1-1.fc30.x86_64 is excluded ... snip ... ~~~ But I don't need it. I am using Czech version of LO and I have my help installed: ~~~ $ rpm -qa libreoffice-help* libreoffice-help-cs-6.1.1.2-1.fc30.x86_64 ~~~ Even if I use the English locale, I don't think I will miss the English help. Please avoid installation of English help when it is not needed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: libreoffice-help-en is pulled in. Expected results: libreoffice-help-en should not be required if I don't want to. I suppose one could argue that it would be fairer to make libreoffice-langpack-en also a weak dependency.
(In reply to Jens Petersen from comment #1) > I suppose one could argue that it would be fairer to make > libreoffice-langpack-en also a weak dependency. Possibly. Actually, I tried to remove libreoffice-langpack-en prior to reporting this bug and it is not possible.
(In reply to Vít Ondruch from comment #2) > Actually, I tried to remove libreoffice-langpack-en prior to > reporting this bug and it is not possible. It is currently a hard dependency.
I don't remember ever hearing any complaints in the times when help was part of libreoffice-langpack subpackages (separate libreoffice-help-* subpackages only exist since F-26)... Maybe that split should be reverted. Or the English help could be put into libreoffice-core, where it was up to F-18. Either way, problem solved .-)
Does libreoffice-langpack-en have to be installed by default? Or could it be a weak dependency?
Ping! Could this be resolved, please? I still refrain from installing LO update due to this.
help includes the extended tool tips used for accessibility descriptions, so in one sense not installing help produces an install with broken accessibility but for the sake of a quiet life I'll make these Recommends for fedora.
(In reply to Caolan McNamara from comment #7) > help includes the extended tool tips used for accessibility descriptions I have no idea what it is, so I probably don't need it :) > but for the sake of a quiet life I'll make these Recommends for fedora. Thx a lot.
