It displays "Checking..." with a spinning indicator, and can be stuck like this for days, until I kill it. The "stop" button doesn't do much: sometimes I get an error message, but most of the time, it has no effect. Quitting the application doesn't do anything. Killing the "gnome-software" process often fixes it, but not for very long. Reproducible: Sometimes

I see this problem actually on fedora 30. Please change Version to 30, since I can't do that.
