Created attachment 1498276 [details]
Spec file for man-pages-de

Current package version is outdated. See the attached spec file for f28.

Note that "%global man_ver_repl" always must match the version of the man-pages package in the appropriate Fedora release. This is 4.15 for the current f28 and 4.16 for f29/Rawhide.

Besides that, the project page and download location have changed.

The patch for cpio.1.po is no longer working.

I've tested the build locally at f28.

The version 2.10 has been released recently. It has a new approach regarding handling different distributions: There are now subdirectories like »secondary-archlinux« and »secondary-debian-stretch« for which the upstream man pages are pulled from the appropriate distribution packages. This allows to keep the translations closer to the distribution and not absolutely in sync with Debian Sid, as in earlier versions of man-pages-de.

Moreover, the upstream manpages come with the tarball, so the »BuildRequires:« can be almost completely dropped, except po4a. But for the best utilization of the new concept, it would be needed to create a directory like »secondary-fedora29« (and/or »secondary-fedora-rawhide«) to pull the upstream manpages from the corresponding Fedora packages (which I could initiate as an upstream project member of manpages-de). But this only makes sense if someone is willing to maintain the Fedora package of man-pages-de, and build new versions within a reasonable time frame.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 28 is nearing its end of life.
On 2019-May-28 Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for
Fedora 28. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases
that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as
EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '28'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 28 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Version 2.13 has been released:

Version 2.14 has been released today:
https://salsa.debian.org/manpages-de-team/manpages-de/-/archive/v2.14/manpages-de-v2.14.tar.bz2

Comment 7 Mario Blättermann 2019-09-05 11:46:56 UTC
Version 2.15 has been released today:
https://salsa.debian.org/manpages-de-team/manpages-de/-/archive/v2.15/manpages-de-v2.15.tar.bz2

Comment 8 Mario Blättermann 2020-03-05 19:52:21 UTC
Version 4.0.0 has been released a few days ago:
https://salsa.debian.org/manpages-l10n-team/manpages-l10n/-/archive/v4.0.0/manpages-l10n-v4.0.0.tar.bz2

Note, the tarball now contains translated man pages in six languages: Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, French, German, Polish and Romanian. It will replace the current Fedora packages man-pages-de, man-pages-fr and man-pages-pl, assuming you split it into packages with that names (which I would recommend).
If you have any questions, feel free to ask here.

Comment 9 Mario Blättermann 2020-04-07 12:00:53 UTC
man-pages-de has been superseded by man-pages-l10n.
