On an ASUS FX503VD, doing a suspend / resume standard procedure seems to alter the GPIO configuration. Consequences: the i2c touchpad don't work correctly after the resume step. Please find attached the pinctrl list before and after the suspend / resume cycle. Please also find attached the diff of these two files that highlight the pins that has been changed after the resume step.

*********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 28 kernel bugs. Fedora 28 has now been rebased to 4.20.5-100.fc28. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 29, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 29. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
This bug is still present after upgrade to kernel 4.20.4-200.fc29.x86_64.
Hello, Do you need any additional informations to start any debug things ? I must disable the suspend on laptop lid closed to avoid probing again the i2c_hid module after the resume step (see the related bug for more detail).
I would like to have the following differences (no need to dump everything) (in all cases, please, don't touch touchpad): 1/ boot Linux with *disabled* touchpad driver, i.e. I2C HID, gather the following: a) the pins statuses listed in your attached diff here, b) gather entire pins list and do suspend-resume cycle and gather the difference if any (I hope to see the file from a) and difference from b) items) 2/ boot with driver enabled and without any additional patch applied, do as in 1.
Created attachment 1552302 [details] pinctl-asked-procedure Andy, please find the pinctl statuses for step 1/, I've added 'blacklist i2c_hid > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf' then rebooted without touching the touchpad. 1_A_pinctl : pins after boot 1_B_pinctl : pins after suspend - resume for step 2/ I've removed the blacklist 2_A_pinctl : pins after boot 2_B_pinctl : pins after suspend - resume If you need any other informations, feel free to ask me.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 28 is nearing its end of life. On 2019-May-28 Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 28. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '28'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 28 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
*********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 30 kernel bugs. Fedora 30 has now been rebased to 5.2.9-200.fc30. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 31, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 31. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
*********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** This bug is being closed with INSUFFICIENT_DATA as there has not been a response in 3 weeks. If you are still experiencing this issue, please reopen and attach the relevant data from the latest kernel you are running and any data that might have been requested previously.
This bug is still present, I've sent all asked informations (in comment #8 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1645042#c8)
Does the patch from v5.4 (*) fixes the issue? *) https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/pinctrl/intel/pinctrl-intel.c?id=6cb0880f08229360c6c57416de075aa96930be78
Thanks @Andy, How can I compile only this module (pinctrl-intel) with the patch without upgrading the whole kernel sources ? Actually, I've got only the source of kernel-4.20.13 (yes, that's old !) Am I forced to update my sources to the 5.3.6 to be able to build this module only ?

Fedora 30 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2020-05-26. Fedora 30 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Vivien, sorry for late reply, I think it's kinda 'yes' because there were a lot of changes in that driver somewhere in v5.x kernels. Do you have a chance to test on most recent you can try? (v5.6.y would be ideal, of course)
