Section 2.2 of the Deployment Guide [1] says that 2x NICs are required, and to see section 2.4 for more details. When you get to that section, it says that 3x NICs are required. This confuses customers and should be fixed. [1] - https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_hyperconverged_infrastructure_for_virtualization/1.5/html-single/deploying_red_hat_hyperconverged_infrastructure_for_virtualization/#rhhi-req-pm
Laura, looks good! Thank you. I had a few trivial thoughts... 1. Consider using bold for "are required" in the first paragraph, and reference RHV-M along with Hosted Engine. " Fully-qualified domain names that are forward and reverse resolvable by DNS **are required** for all hyperconverged hosts and for the Hosted Engine virtual machine (RHV-Manager.) " 2. I don't think Ethernet should be capitalized, but I could be wrong... 3. Consider using "two" instead of "2" in the third paragraph, so that it flows better with the subsequent "one". " Each node requires two ethernet ports, one for each network. " Thanks!
Section 2.4 requires a change as suggested by sas in comment #5 "Also the section 2.4 starts with 1Gbps network. We need 1 X 1Gbps & 1 x 10Gbps " This change is not present in the documentation mentioned by laura in #comment9. Hence moving the bug to assigned state
In reply to comment #11 from Laura Hi Laura Yes, you are correct each node requires two ethernet ports ,one for each network . The bug was moved back to assigned state just for the clarity of content . " 1 x 1Gbps and 1 X 10Gbps " seems to be more clear than the content " Requires at least 1Gbps Ethernet " and " Requires 10Gbps Ethernet." Since the context is clear moving the bug to verified state.
Updating the Target release to 1.5.z on this bug
Hi Laura , In Section 2.4 under Back-end storage network in document "https://access.qa.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_hyperconverged_infrastructure_for_virtualization/1.5/html-single/deploying_red_hat_enterprise_linux_based_rhhi_for_virtualization/#rhhi-req-network" could you update the following : 1. Instead of " Requires 10Gbps Ethernet " could you update it as " Requires atleast one 10Gbps Ethernet " . 2. Under Front-end management network section also could instead of "Requires at least 1Gbps Ethernet" could you update it as " Requires at least one 1Gbps Ethernet"
The changes are as per requirement in the documentation. Hence, moving the bug to verified state.
