The Red Hat OpenStack Platform Orchestration service (heat) now includes a new resource type, OS::Glance::WebImage, used for creating an Image service (glance) image from a URL using the Glance v2 API. This new resource type replaces an earlier one, OS::Glance::Image.

There is a work-in-progress prototype patch posted upstream.

This feature actually shipped in Stein upstream, so it's available in OSP15 as well AFAIK.
