RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

VBOX VM config

Description of problem:
Installing RHEL 8.0 Beta into a VirtualBox virtual machine. After the package installation the VM changes to a "landscape" graphics mode with graphics corrupted so that no text can be made out.

Pressing enter (or, alternatively tab and then enter) blind restarts the VM but the system is unbootable.

How reproducible:

Every time; different package selections do not seem to make a difference

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL 8.0 Beta from ISO in VirtualBox 5.2.20r125813 (Qt5.6.2)
2. Configure system as usual - dhcp, 32GB HD, UTC0, root + one user account. Package selection including graphic admin tools.
3. 

Actual results:

At the end of the package installation the VM goes into a strange landscape mode with corrupted graphics. Pressing enter or tab followed by enter or just restarting the VM doesn't work. VM unbootable on restart.

Looking at the VBOX log, graphics mode is 1152x400

There was also a number of 0 byte logs present:

Just to clarify when the graphics corruption happens. 

The screen mode changed immediately after "Installing boot loader" appeared.

I had to update my VirtualBox instance to V5.2.22 on Windows 10. 

A repeat of the install generates the same issue.

We no longer use VirtualBox so I am unable to reproduce the issue.

After evaluating this issue, there are no plans to address it further or fix it in an upcoming release.  Therefore, it is being closed.  If plans change such that this issue will be fixed in an upcoming release, then the bug can be reopened.
