RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Scott Poore 2018-11-17 04:17:27 UTC
Description of problem:

When viewing remote journal recorded sessions, some sessions do not perform proper log correlation if times or timezones do not match.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
cockpit-session-recording-1-23.el8

How reproducible:
Unknown. believed to be reproducible.

Steps to Reproduce:
On Server:
1. Setup cockpit and cockpit-session-recording
2. Setup systemd-journal-remote
On Client1:
3. Setup systemd-journal-upload to send to Server
4. Install tlog and add a user with /usr/bin/tlog-rec-session as shell
On Server:
5. ssh localuser1@client1 and run some commands
Open Browser in a different timezone to:
6. https://server:9090 and login as user with admin privs
7. go to Session Recording from left hand menu
8. select the session to play

Actual results:
I do not see the correlateed logs from the session.

Expected results:
when playing back session, I expected to see the correlated log entries from the host where the session was recorded.

Additional info:

Comment 2 Scott Poore 2018-12-12 17:21:55 UTC
Verified with the same test as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1650883

Should be noted that browser is run on a host in CST, rhel8-3 journal-remote host is PST, and rhel8-6 journal-upload host is MST. So 3 different timezones.

And when I login to https://rhel8-3.example.com:9090 from a browser and go to "Session Recordings" I can see and playback this recording.

It should be noted that the time displayed for this recording in the browser is 10:55 CST as expected.
