$ autoconf
/usr/bin/autoconf: mawk: command not found
$ fgrep mawk /usr/bin/autoconf
: ${AWK=mawk}
$

I suggest replacing the above line with
: ${AWK=gawk}

oops, I meant to close it as FIXED instead of discard
