Description Charles R. Anderson 2018-12-01 16:48:51 UTC
Description of problem:

There are several open bugs in NEW state and rdesktop has fail to build from source since after the F24 build. Current Fedora releases are still shipping with that F24 build. Can the current maintainer please respond with your intentions regarding this package?

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Policy_for_nonresponsive_package_maintainers/

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rdesktop-1.8.3-3.fc24.x86_64

This is my second request for a response from the rdesktop maintainer. Does anyone know how to contact Jon Disnard? Thanks.

Comment 2 Jon Disnard 2018-12-11 15:25:47 UTC
Are there really no more rdesktop maintainers, besides me?

Comment 3 Gabriel Somlo 2018-12-11 16:26:28 UTC
I'm not a maintainer, just a user. I've been spinning my own RPMs for a while, latest example here:

http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~somlo/RDP/rdesktop-1.8.3-3.post.20181211git1f13bf5.fc28.src.rpm

Two-fold motivation: first, the FTBFS Fedora issue; second, I need a "mouse jiggler" feature to
keep the remote server from hanging up on me during long file copy operations. A pull request
to upstream was rejected "because this would go against the wishes and policy of the server admin"
(whose side should the client be on, anyway -- https://github.com/rdesktop/rdesktop/pull/23 ).

Anyway, I'm volunteering to (co-)maintain this package with whomever else is interested, with or
without the mouse-jiggler patches :)

You are currently listed as the primary contact. The Gnome/Red Hat members are no longer interested in maintaining rdesktop. I'm volunteering to take over primary maintainership if you no longer wish to be the primary contact--just assign the package to me. If you do wish to continue as primary maintainer, I'm happy to help as a co-maintainer. My FAS ID is cra. Either way, the open bugs need to be addressed.

Thanks.

Jon, can you please either add me (cra) as a co-maintainer or as the main admin for rdesktop? I'd like to address the open bugs.

Thanks.

Hey gang,

So I want to say right up front I didn't realize I have become the top mod of rdesktop.
I was probably interested in the package years ago, got on the ACL, and I guess due to attrition I became top.

So my apologies, I mean... like totally did not mean to neglect this software.
I have got the software to build by applying the latest upstream git master.

(testing needed)

I'll have to speak with upstream, but it looks like they have stopped releasing, or maybe they have simply accumulated a lot of commits on the HEAD of their git.

Anyways, I'll get the ACL updated so more packagers can take a poke.
Charles you are welcome aboard.

Comment 7 Jon Disnard 2018-12-19 01:05:00 UTC
I marked Charles as rdesktop admin
