RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open cockpit and go to system tab
2. Click on join a Domain and fill the details.
3. After clicking on join button it does not respond anything.

Actual results: It is not responding after clicking on the join button. Domain is not reflecting in the system tab. It is not showing any error or acknowledgement.

Just to make sure that we are on the same page: The domain you entered, does that actually exist? If you run "realm discover tripanywhere.in" on the machine, what does it say? (please copy&paste the entire output).

When I try that with a non-existing domain, I get the behaviour you described. I can still click "cancel" to close the dialog, but indeed the "No such realm found" error message from realmd does not get shown.

After typing a domain name, you'll see a little spinner in the "Domain address" input line at the right. This is when it detects the domain, essentially calling "realm discover") (not quite, but close enough).

Comment 2 Shivam Gupta 2018-12-17 07:16:24 UTC
I have configured this "tripanywhere.in" domain locally on a kerberos server but unfortunately i have deleted that virtual machine. My concern is only about that, it is now showing me any error message or any acknowledge while entering any domain. Yes you are right there is a little spinner at the right but this does not indicate any error after completion. It should show some error if it does not found any realm. Even when we click on join button it does not show me any error or acknowledgement. I can close the dialog by clicking on the close button but it should respond with some message.

Comment 3 Martin Pitt 2018-12-17 08:42:04 UTC
Thanks, I just wanted to confirm that it was indeed a non-working domain. I'll fix the error message.
