Description Mike Hackett 2019-01-09 17:24:48 UTC
Description of problem:
Currently with ceph-ansible 3.2 we have included new config options for RGW multisite. This enables ceph-ansible to be able to deploy RGW's in a multisite configuration in a Ceph cluster. But this ceph-ansible option should only be used for configuring a new Ceph cluster with RGW Multisite and is NOT needed for existing RGW multisite configurations when upgrading to RHCS 3.2.

Note the install section:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_ceph_storage/3/html/installation_guide_for_red_hat_enterprise_linux/deploying-red-hat-ceph-storage#configuring-a-multisite-ceph-object-gateway-install

We don't want to confuse a user into thinking that this is required for managing a Ceph cluster with Multisite in RHCS 3.2 so we can include a note in the upgrade section (https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_ceph_storage/3/html/installation_guide_for_red_hat_enterprise_linux/upgrading-a-red-hat-ceph-storage-cluster) that reads:

IMPORTANT
When using the rolling_update.yml playbook to upgrade to any Red Hat Ceph Storage 3.x version, users who use the Ceph Rados Gateway Multisite (RGW) will not have to manually update the all.yml file to specify the Multisite configuration.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.2
