I'm pretty surprised, Rich has been very responsive to robotics packages in need of help. I have pinged him on his private address, he probably is just busy.

I guess it hadn't made the top of his list then. The last email on fedora-dev is from Nov 2018 and the last update on a package we co-maintain is from 30.12.2018. So, he is around and just hasn't gotten to it, yet, I assume.
Python 3 support in ROS is an ongoing effort - https://discourse.ros.org/t/planning-future-ros-1-distribution-s/6538 It looks like some of the Debian packages are built with python 3, but I've been trying to figure out what the best path forward is with these packages for a while. I think I may just orphan them as they aren't really useful in their current form, and I don't have much spare time to put into the huge effort of packaging ROS. If someone else has the time to keep pushing this forward I would be interested in helping where I can, but I can't drive the effort.

Thanks for responding, Rich! If you don't have time I suggest you orphan the packages so somebody else can take them and work on this. Maybe try to reach for a volunteer at the devel list?
That's a good plan, I sent a message to the list today. The freenect package isn't part of the ROS effort, I'll try to see what's going on with that package.
