RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Neal Gompa 2019-02-03 19:35:28 UTC
Description of problem:
Please build the DNF stack for Python 3 so that when people are porting code from Python 2 to Python 3 that uses YUM or DNF, they can test and use that code using Python 3 with the DNF and libdnf+hawkey APIs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
N/A (I don't know what version will be in the 7.7 release)

Comment 3 Neal Gompa 2019-02-12 02:11:27 UTC
When building the python rpm bindings, please make sure this is backported, so that the metadata isn't broken: https://github.com/rpm-software-management/rpm/commit/2797d00ecd224a59a8ca967f40240e827ff31c69

(Currently, the rpm-python package does not provide the metadata at all, but if it is provided in the python2 and python3 bindings when updated, it'd be good to be consistent with what will be present in RHEL 8, SLE 15, Fedora, and openSUSE).

Comment 4 Neal Gompa 2019-04-24 11:14:29 UTC
Note that python3-rpm is in EPEL7, and does include the fix I mentioned in Comment 3: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python3-rpm/blob/1f997f62c6e91d79124567975c728f24c8d16a1c/f/python3-rpm.spec#_130

Comment 8 Terry Bowling 2019-06-07 20:23:27 UTC
Daniel,

Does bz1597718 unblock this from moving forward?

Comment 12 Daniel Mach 2019-09-09 11:41:19 UTC
The change hasn't been approved for RHEL 7.8.
Closing WONTFIX.
