Description Avihai 2019-02-06 14:35:04 UTC
Description of problem:
Currently, we need to install backend storage client drivers manually per each backend storage, without it clinderLib/managed block feature will not work.

The customer will expect to get an out of the box solution with all drivers already at the engine machine(or at least the most used ones)

For full driver list:
https://docs.openstack.org/ocata/config-reference/block-storage/volume-drivers.html

The specific installation we use as we have Kaminario, HP3PAR:

For Kaminario:
pip install krest

For HP3PAR:
pip install python-3parclient

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ovirt-engine 4.3.0.4

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Check if the cinderlib clients drivers for different backend storages:
> pip show <driver_name>
> pip show krest
> pip show python-3parclient

Actual results:
Drivers are not installed

Expected results:
Drivers should be installed as part of the engine installation.

Comment 1 Fred Rolland 2019-02-13 11:51:38 UTC
The additional packages are not all available in oVirt channels.
In OpenStack, some packages are also not part of the installation and the user needs to install them manually:

https://github.com/openstack/cinder/blob/master/driver-requirements.txt

We will stay with the same solution as in OpenStack.

Closing won't fix.
